How to help eliminate plastic waste ? By giving it a second life !
The growing interest in addressing the challenge of plastic waste is requires innovative solutions, and the recycling and reuse of plastics is about to become one of those solutions that can meet the challenge of nature protection and the transition to a circular economy. Working closely with our partners and chasing our goals moving towards a circular economy, we will start offering a new type of products - recycled compounds, containing a mixture of a certain percentage of mechanically recycled waste and prime virgin material. With this new type of materials, we aim to reach new markets and more technically demanding final applications, while giving new life to plastic waste through recycling to obtain new products that should be invested in various high quality industries, while reducing the carbon footprint of our partners.
Our current portfolio includes:
Polyethylene – Working closely with our partners we have taken up one of the hardest and most virtuous challenges posed by the circular economy: to expand the number and variety of applications for urban post consumer plastic, feeding it back into production processes. By using specific polymers and in-compound additives, our partners curtails post-consumer plastic’s typical heterogeneity and are able to create a thermoplastic material with optimal mechanical properties. Our current portfolio includes low-density (LDPE) and high-density (HDPE) polyethylene compounds fit for blown-film, blow-molding and extrusion technologies. These new type of products are ideal for the production – in coextrusion and mixed with virgin polyethylene – of various films, packaging and containers of industrial products, drip irrigation, and for the extrusion of tubes and profiles.
Styrenics – Our current Styrenics portfolio is produced by continuous mass production technology, where the recycled material is incorporated into the finished product in order to offer performances at the same high standard as virgin products. The finished product is then transformed by ou client companies and used for any of the typical applications for this type of materials, such as insulating panels (XPS) for energy-saving construction projects (external thermal insulation) and protective packaging for appliances and furniture.
General purpose polystyrene (GPPS) - The recycled general purpose polystyrene is the first new grade in our polystyrene portfolio. It contains up to 75% of secondary raw material. The grade is suitable for mixing with virgin material in orde to reach the target percent of recycled material in the final item. The grades are suitable for injection moulding and extrusion of sheets including XPS sheets, using direct-gassing applications for the production of insulated panels (XPS sector).
High impact polystyrene (HIPS) – The recycled high impact polystyrene is the second new grade in our polystyrene portfolio. Following the circular economy approach it has been developed for a new era of sustainable HIPS containing up to 75% of of secondary raw material. The grades are suitable for extrusion/thermoforming, injection moulding and packaging applications.
Expanded polystyrene (EPS) – The EPS (expanded polystyrene) portfolio has been developed for a new era of sustainable packaging: it contains up to 35% of secondary raw material and a lower pentane content for the lower emissions. It includes grade with granulometry starting from 0,6 up to 1,6 mm, including also flame retarded grades (HBCD free). The narrow bead size distribution leads to good filling of the molds and allow to obtain a very smooth surface.
In and around our office and warehouse bases are available the best practices and technologies to reduce the harmful impact on the environment, as the processes of distribution, transport and storage of our products are certified according to the latest updates of quality standards ISO 9001: 2015 and environmental protection 14001: 2015.
